Miss Yumeki "Meki" Von Franks, daughter of Lem D. Sr and Clemetine Franks, was born January 14, 1976 in Lansing, Michigan. Meki was born with impairments that limited what we define as a "full productive life." Doctors stated she wouldn't live past the age of 2 or 3. BUT GOD! Then when she reached that age they said age 10. BUT GOD! Then when she reached that age they said 21. BUT GOD! Meki lived to age 41. THANK GOD! Meki was educated through the Ingham County Intermediate School District in the state of Michigan where she learned daily living skills, became a social butterfly, and grew to love babies, kittens, Michael Jackson and the Word of God. Her greatest attribute was her unconditional love of people, which cannot be learned in a classroom. Meki taught our family what was most valuable in life: family, friends and love. Material things didn't concern Meki. She didn't verbally speak a lot of words but communicated through her radiant spirit of love. Wherever she went her light shined brightly. Armed with her Bible, pen and paper, Meki spent COUNTLESS hours in her own personal way of Bible study. Not only did she love God's Word, she loved being in the House of the Lord. She lived the scripture that says, "I was glad when they said unto me, let us go into the house of the Lord" (Psalm 122:1). Meki LOVED being at church. It didn't matter if it was Sunday service or Tuesday Bible study; whether at her home church or one of her adopted home churches. Wherever Meki went she exuded love and warmth. She loved her family dearly. And guess what? She received that same love back from so many. Everyone knew Meki had a love for kittens and jewelry. Friends and family always brought Meki love gifts that grew her collection of cat figurines and jewelry immensely. Her precious memories will be cherished by her mother and father, Clemetine (Torry) and Lem Franks, Sr; her loving big sister, Vershone Franks; her protective baby brother, Lem D. Franks, II (Dominique); her niece, Xiomara; her nephews Zephaniah, Kemauri and L'Trell; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, family and friends. We mourn the loss and celebrate the life and legacy of Ms. Yumeki Von Franks, 41, of Shreveport, LA. Please keep the Franks Family lifted in prayer.
