A retired carpenter with Carpenter's Local 1098 and a resident of Hamilton, Ga., he died Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2010, at Hospice of Columbus. He was 73 and a native of Glynn. Visiting at Winnfield Funeral Home on Friday, Oct. 22, from noon to 6 p.m. Religious service at the funeral home chapel Saturday, Oct. 23, at 10 a.m., conducted by Bishop Thelma Pearl and Dr. Mark. G. Dillard. He is survived by daughters, Alicia Paul, of Hamilton, and Tamiler Clark, of Baker; son, Willis Batiste Jr., of Baker; sisters, Daisy McCall, of Baton Rouge, Veronica Batiste and Audrey Ross, both of Dallas, and Helen Lightbody, of Yuma, Ariz.; and brothers, Larry and Gary Batiste, both of Baton Rouge. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Batiste; and a son, Kelvin Batiste,Jr.
