A security guard with the rank of captain, she died Monday, Jan. 3, 2011, at 8:31 a.m. at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. She was 52 and a resident and native of Baton Rouge. Visiting at Winfield Funeral Home on Thursday, Jan. 6, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Religious service at Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church at 11 a.m. Friday, conducted by the Rev. Floyd Mathews. Interment in Winnfield Memorial Park. Survived by her husband, James Edward Bennett Sr.; mother, Ms. Ruby L. Johnson; daughters, D'Wanna and Cynthia Collins; sons, James Thomas, and Kendrick Shavers and wife Jerriot; sister, Pamela Ranson and husband Arthur; brothers, Dennis Johnson, Kantrell Collins and wife Marjorie, and Robert Webb and wife Doris; and four grandchildren, Jason Collins, Dezmond Thomas, Kendrick Jr. and Jashawn Shavers. Preceded in death by her father, Bicthard Collins; and two sisters, Cynthia Chatman and Camera Hawkins. She was a graduate of Scotlandville Senior High School, Class of 1976
