Funeral services for Velvetha Davis Mcshan will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 16, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Leesville. Burial will be at Pine Grove Cemetery on Hwy. 171, in Leesville. Ms. Mcshan passed away Sunday, Oct. 5, in Chicago, Ill. A beautiful, soulful voice, and presence will no longer grace the stage of the downtown riverbank. She performed for many years with Rodney Harrington's band called 'Johonny Earthquake and the Moon Dogs.' She attended Northwestern State University as a music major during which time she performed at the presidential concert for the investitute of Dr. Randall Webb in 1996. After moving to Dallas, she was accepted into the prestigious Dallas Women Symphony Orchestra. Ms. Mcshan leaves to cherish her memory, parents, Jewel and Helen Davis of Leesville; brothers, Ron, Donald and Carlos of Dallas; uncle and aunt Juan and Bobbie Pablo of Natchitoches; and a host of relatives and friends.
