Treamell Phillips, known to family and friends as "Sonny" passed away on September 23, 2017, at the age of 63. He was born June 26, 1954. A native of Shreveport, Louisiana, Sonny attended Hollywood Elementary School, Union High School and graduated from Woodlawn High School in Shreveport, Louisiana in 1972.
Sonny worked as a Carpenter, handyman and on many construction sites. His fondest job was roofing. He was a roofer for more than 20 years, in which he enjoyed and loved. For more than 5 years, Sonny worked for Caddo Community Action Agency (CCAA) as a janitor until he was stricken with illness and forced into retirement.
His favorite pass time was watching football and cooking. Sonny was an excellent cook. He enjoyed cooking buffalo wings and ribs, barbequing and having seafood cookouts, especially when it came to the Fourth of July, when he would light up the barbeque pit for family and friends to cook his favorite ribs. In addition, he had a love for music and watching western movies and yes he had seen them all! Sonny enjoyed playing the guitar, especially with his dad when he came into town. His favorite artists were Jimmy Hendricks and the Isley Brothers. Those were the old school sounds that he mimicked. Now, if you thought you could play dominos and win, you had not played with Sonny. Sonny could play dominos and cards as well, and no one could beat him.
Sonny spent most of his quality time with the love of his life for many years, Joanne Stewart. His favorite thing to do for her was working in the yard and planting flower because he knew it made her happy. Sonny was so appreciative of Joanne, who was there by his side throughout his illness.
After the loss of his grandmother, Fannie Anderson, Sonny rededicated his life back to the Lord and continued until he was called home.
Sonny is survived by his mother, Geneva Lee Kyles; his dad, whom he loved dearly, Loyd Phillips and wife, Florine Phillips; sisters, Deandrea Duncan, Simone Rice, Yvette Kyles, Wanda Henderson, Leara Phillips, Merrily Walton, Sandra Mixon and Lynette Phillips; brothers, Michael Kyles, Loyd Phillips I, Noil Phillips and Marty Phillips; nephew, Loyd Glen II; other nephews, nieces, cousins, relatives and friends. We mourn the loss and Celebrate the Life and Legacy of Mr. Treamell Phillips, 63 of Shreveport, La.
