We mourn the loss and Celebrate the Life and Legacy of Mrs. Sylvia Mustiful Mims 96, of Shreveport, La.
SYLVIA MUSTIFUL MIMS was born November 14, 1921 in Pleasant Hill, Louisiana to the late Jerome Mustiful and Lourrainy Simon-Mustiful.
Sylvia accepted the Lord Jesus Christ in her heart and was baptized at Taylor Chapel Methodist Church and later united with Second Street Baptist Church where she was active in the following ministries: Missionary, Deaconess, Usher, Sunday School and served as First Lady for 21 years.
Sylvia served as an Eastern Star for 21 years. In 1940, Sylvia met the love of her life, Willie Mims, and moved to Shreveport, Louisiana. They were married for 67 years and had 6 children. Sylvia was a stay-at-home mom taking care of her children and later the caretaker of her late mother, sister, and husband. Sylvia loved sewing, completing ceramic projects and puzzles, dressing fancy, baking cakes which she called "sweet bread", and spending time with her family. Sylvia will be remembered for her calm spirit, generosity, thoughtfulness, warmth, and the need to serve others.
Sylvia is preceded in death by her loving husband, parents, two children (Henry P. Mims and Baby Mims), three sisters (Ida Lee Harper, Josie Kennon, & Mary Forbes), three brothers (Blue Boy, Jack Mustiful, & Candy Mustiful), and one grand-daughter (Antoinette Green).
Sylvia leaves to cherish her everlasting memories, son; Robert (Roberta) Mims of Magnolia, Texas, daughters; Priscilla (Alvin) Mathews of Bossier City, Louisiana, Ida (Gregory) Mercer of Bonaire, Georgia, and W. Louise (Willie) Green of Captial Heights, Maryland, 16 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Please keep the Mims Family lifted in your prayers.
