A resident of Baton Rouge and student at Glen Oaks High School, she died Monday, February 18, 2008. Shannon had a passion for basketball and was a well loved player for the Glen Oaks High School Basketball Team. She aspired to be a nutritionist and to assist others with Juvenile Diabetes. Visiting will be at Winnfield Funeral Home on Friday, February 22, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Religious services will be held on Saturday, February 23, at Living Faith Christian Cathedral with interment following at Green Oaks Memorial Park. Services will be conducted by Bishop Raymond Johnson. She is survived by her parents, Adrianne and Gilbert Veal, Jr.; two sisters, Shayla and Lauren Veal; and two God-sisters, Nineshia S. Keller and Kambre Scott. She was preceded in death by her great-grandparents, Clementine and Nolan Veal, Sr. and Gertrude and Isaac Douglas Brooks English; grandparents, Gilbert Veal, Sr., Lee Audrey Veal, and Beatrice Gibson; and an uncle, Darryl Veal.
