Obituary Of Mrs. Sallye Ann Edwards Pierce Funeral Services celebrating the life of Sallye Edwards Pierce will be held Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at 3:00 p. m. at Asbury United Methodist Church. Mrs. Pierce will lie in state one hour prior to service time in the churchs sanctuary. Her service will be officiated by the Rev. James Graham, Pastor of the Asbury Church. Interment will follow at the Lawrence Serenity Sanctum. Mrs. Pierce was born October 7, 1926 in Natchitoches to the late Eli and Effie Edwards. She passed away Sunday, Mach 22, 2009 at home. She was a graduate of Natchitoches Parish Training School and Southern University. She was an educator for more than 30 years in the Natchitoches Parish Public School System. Prior to working in Natchitoches, she worked as a classroom teacher in Rayne, LA. She was a faithful member of Asbury United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Senior Choir, Mission Group and a former Sunday school teacher. Mrs. Pierce was preceded in death by her parents, Eli and Effie Edwards and her husband of over fifty years, Floyd Joseph Pierce, Sr. She is survived by her son, Floyd Joseph Pierce, Jr. (Lauretta) of Highlands Ranch, CO., her daughter, Cynthia Pierce King of Natchitoches, LA; grandchildren, Courtney Pierce Riley of Antioch, TN, Michael King of Shreveport, LA, Floyd Joseph Pierce, III and Laurie Pierce of Highlands Ranch, CO, three great granddaughters, Telynn, Teviona and Tedrian Riley of Antioch, TN; two sisters, Ms. Louise Edwards of Seattle, WA and Mrs. Eunice Johnson of Welsh, LA, and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. While the family and friends mourn her passing, we know our Heavenly Father has joyously welcomed her home.
