Funeral services will be Saturday August 13, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Abundant Life Church with burial in the Lawrence Serenity Sancutm. There will be no wake the preceding evening; however, the body will lie in state at the Abundant Life Church for public viewing from 10:00 a. m. until service time on Saturday. Mrs. Rose Marie Steele Holden was born September 13, 1951 in DeRidder, LA to the parentage of the late Mr. Tommy Steele, II and Mrs. Mary Lee Metoyer Steele as the first of five children which blessed this union. Her early education was achieved in the public schools of Houston, Texas and ultimately achieved her High School Certification through Natchitoches Central High School in Natchitoches, LA. A personal relationship with her Creator was of great importance in Maries life. Her first spiritual experience was becoming a member of the St. Anthony Catholic Church. Spiritual growth led her to being baptized in Cane River and affiliating with the First Baptist Church on North Street. Following this period of membership, she became a part of the Christian Worship Center. Always striving for a closer walk with the Almighty Father, she then became an active member of the Abundant Life Church where the Rev. Aill Harris, Jr. is the Shepherd of the flock. Marie chose the arena of health care as her vocation. She served many patients with care, concern and love over the years as a CNA. In fact, as the family reflects on her lifes work it was actually more of a ministry than a profession. Preceding her in death were her father, Mr. Tommy Steele II, her daughter Carla Lilly, her mother, Mrs. Mary Lee Steele, and her grandmother Mrs. Margaret Metoyer. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Tammy Shields (Arnold Shields, Sr.) of Arlington, TX, Sonnia Steele of Natchitoches, LA., Mrs. Marilyn Demars of Natchitoches, LA., Mr. Joseph Steele of Baton Rouge, LA., and Mr. Tommy Steele, III (Sandra) of Natchitoches, LA; two grandchildren, Arnold (A. J.) Shields, Jr. and Adisyon Shields; one uncle, Mr. Hayward Steele (Lula) of DeRidder, LA and one aunt, Mrs. Annabelle Broussard of DeRidder, LA and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Winnfield Funeral Home-Natchitoches, LA.
