Funeral Services for Mr. Robert Anthony, Jr. will be held at the Winnfield Funeral Home Chapel Saturday, February 6, 2010 at 1:00 p. m. with Minister Joe Williams Sr. of Pentecost B.C. officiating. Public visitation will be held the funeral home on Saturday from 8:00 a. m. to service time. Burial will follow in the St. Mary Baptist Church Cemetery on Little River. OBITUARY For I Have Fought A Good Fight, I Have Finished My Course, I Have Kept The Faith: Henceforth There Is Laid Up For Me A Crown of Righteousness, Which The Lord, The Righteous Judge Shall Give Me That Day: And Not To Me Only, But Unto All Them Also That Love His Appearing. II Timothy 4:7-8 Robert Anthony Jr., the third son of the late Robert Sr. and Elviria Sapp Anthony was born on January 3, 1923. Realizing that the spiritual realm of life was necessary for preparation when man exchanges time for eternity, Robert confessed Christ as his Lord and personal Saviour at St. Mary B.C. in Melrose under the leadership of the late Rev. A.M. Brown. He later united with Pentecost Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon under the leadership of Rev. Joe Williams Sr. Deacon Anthony departed this life for his new home on January 29th at Natchitoches Regional Medical Center. He was 87. Throughout his life, Deacon Anthony showed great devotion to his family, church, work and community. He always had a story to share or a message about the goodness of the Lord. He was a true outdoorsman; enjoying hunting, fishing, boating, landscaping, grafting trees, and tending his vegetable/fruit gardens and animals. He was known to get his hands dirty in the kitchen cooking wild game, pies, and was featured in the Natchitoches Times for his biscuit recipe. Although he was a talented guitarist; he was most recognized for playing Oh! When the Saints Go Marching Home on his harp harmonica. He was a loving husband to his wife, Carrie; and reminded her of sunshine. Deacon Anthony was preceded in death by siblings, Emmitt Anthony, Atrice Anthony, Doretha Williams, Vernon Johnson, and Earner Williams; his second wife, Lisa Anthony (of which six children were born) and sons, Lee Murray Anthony and Robert Earl Anthony. Deacon Anthony is survived by Carrie, his devoted and faithful wife of eighteen years; five (5) children, Dolly Anthony of Alexandria, Morrell Anthony of Natchitoches, Adlean Davis (Clyde) of Natchez, Luvene Anthony of Natchitoches, and Lois Ann Lloyd (Bobby) of Shreveport; three (3) step-daughters, Amanda Fantroy of Natchitoches, Lonita Fantroy of Arlington, Texas, and Demetria Ledet (Vernon) of Natchitoches; one (1) brother, Clyde Anthony Sr.; three (3) sisters, Earline Helaire of Natchitoches, Maxine Anthony of Los Angeles, California and Clara Norris of Houston, Texas; nine (9) grandchildren, seven (7) step-grandchildren, twenty-one (21) great grandchildren and a host nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Winnfield Funeral Home- Natchitoches.
