Rella Richard, a resident of Baton Rouge, passed away Sunday, June 20, 2010. She was 75 and a native of St. Gabriel. Survived by her devoted husband, Vernon Richard; loving daughter, Diana R. Morgan; sister, Juanita Holland Walker; brother, Jonny Holland Jr.; sister-in-law, Veronica Holland; five grandchildren, Carl Richard Jr., Damien Richard and wife Tiffany, Torry R. Chatman and husband Anthony, Carl Michael Richard and Stephen Morgan; 11 great-grandchildren; three nieces, Charlette Joseph, Anissa Holland and Sandra Parker; nephew, Johnny Holland III; and a host of other family and friends. Rella graduated from Iberville High School in 1953 and received a degree in education from Southern University. Mrs. Richard was a teacher in the Iberville Parish school system until her retirement in 1989. Rella enjoyed sewing and will be remembered for her generosity, kindness, sense of humor and delicious cooking. She was a faithful member of St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church, Baton Rouge, for 39 years. Rella was preceded in death by her parents, Johnny and Blanche Holland; son, Carl Richard Sr.; and sister, Beverly Holland Joseph. Friends are invited to attend visitation with the family from 10 a.m. until religious service, conducted by the Rev.
