Funeral Services for Mrs. Patricia Austin Powell will be held Friday, September 2, 2011 at 11:00 am at Mount Calm Missionary Baptist Church. Open public viewing from 10:00 am to services time. A new life for Sister Patricia Austin Powell begun on August 21, 2011 when she stood before her Heavenly Father to be tested, and was found to be as pure gold. She was known by many love ones and friends as Pat but she never lost her identity as a Mother, Grandmother ,Sister, Aunt and friend. Along with her loving and care for her family you could always find Pat on Sunday watching football, basketball or playing tennis. She was a sports fan to heart along with being an excellent athlete herself. She was always giving her time, love, helping hand, and great cooking to all that cross her path. Sister Patricia Austin Powell was born, June 22, 1953 to the late Dorothy Austin Clemons her mother in Jonesboro, Louisiana. Her loving father figure throughout her life was her Grandfather the late Jack Austin. She confessed Christ at an early age at Mt. Calm Missionary Baptist Church, in Arcadia Louisiana. Sister Patricia Austin Powell, graduated from Grambling High School, Class of 1971. While in High School she was a National Merit Scholar. She proceeded to college at Grambling State University, after completing three years of college, an opportunity developed to allow her to travel to Washington, D.C. where she began her career with the U.S. Department of Labor where she remain for over 29 years. Sister Patricia Austin Powell was preceded in death by her mother, grandparents and two brother Christopher Clemons and Rodney Clemons; and a special aunt Ida Austin Byrom. She leaves to cherish her memories one daughter Patrice Camille Austin Washington, D.C.; one sister Corlis Clemons Hicks( Hudson Joe) Grambling, La. ; one brother Robert Osborn, Jr. ( Jeanae ) Shreveport, La: one grandson Jack Austin Jones, Washington, D.C. ; one uncle Donald Austin, Sr. (Euradell) Dublin, CA. ; one special niece LaCrystal Gipson, Shreveport, La.; and a special great nephew DCambrien Ensley and a host of nephews, relatives and friends. By living away from home for over 29 years the family would love to acknowledge all of the extended family she has developed over the years. The list is never ending but we know your hearts and prayers are with us.
