Thomas saith unto him, Lord we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way? Jesus saith unto him, I am the Way, the Truth and the Life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. John 14: 5-6 Sister Ora Sheppard Randolph was born November 16, 1927 to the late Everlena LaCaze Sheppard and the late Grant Sheppard in Chopin, Louisiana in Natchitoches Parish. She departed this life February 11, 2011 at 3:20 PM in Community Care Nursing Home in Natchitoches, Louisiana. She accepted Christ at a young age and joined the Morning Star Baptist Church where she served faithfully until her health failed. Sister Ora loved singing and praising the Lord. Because of this passion, she worked diligently alongside the late Sister Gussie B. Carter as sponsors of the Morning Star Youth Choir in the 1980s and early 1990s. She also sang with the Gospel Tones quartet along with her children for a number of years. Affectionately known as Madea by her children and grandchildren, she was passionate in whatever she did. She was especially fond of children and made sure that when they came to her house, no child or adult left hungry. Madea loved the outside and this included gardening, planting flowers and growing chickens. For many years, she shared the harvest of her work with people in the community; whether it was mustard greens or okra from the garden or chicken eggs from the chicken house. Sister Ora was preceded in death by her husband, Hyman Randolph, Sr. in June 1986. She leaves to cherish her loving memories five children " John Randolph, Sr. and Hyman Randolph, Jr. of Shreveport, Louisiana; Ellen Randolph and Melvin Randolph of Natchez, Louisiana and Cynthia Randolph Goree of Alexandria; one daughter-in-law " Gaylon Randolph and one son-in-law " Paul E. Goree; twelve grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren; two brothers, Bishop Dave Sheppard (Marie) and Floyd Sheppard (Donna) of Houston, Texas; four sisters, Gustava S. Hampton Berry (Freddie Bobby ) of Oakdale, Louisiana; Christine S. Harris, Annie S. Greene (Charles) and Vera S. Daniel of Houston, Texas; two aunts, Bertha LaCaze Gay and Pearl LaCaze Walters of Natchitoches, Louisiana; and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
