Funeral Services will be celebrated for Mr. Calhoun Saturday, March 19, 2011 at the Evergreen Baptist Church on Spanish Lake at 1:00 p. m. Rev. Tucker Hunter, Pastor, will officiate. Remains will be viewed from 11:00 a. m. to service time and burial will take place in the church's cemetery. OBITUARY Odean a/k/a Boe Calhoun was born November 13, 1934 in Robeline, LA to the union of Edward and Cora Calhoun. Boe accepted Christ as his Savior under the leadership of Rev. G. Cox. The family moved to Long Beach, California and he became a member of St. Luke Baptist Church where he was ordained to serve as a Deacon. He has a love for children and drug addicts. His house was a haven for many kids from broken homes and many who were addicted to drugs. He moved to Oklahoma City and united with the Greater New Zion Baptist Church, but he always wanted to return to Louisiana. He rejoined the Evergreen Baptist Church of the Spanish Lake Community and served as a faithful Deacon until his health began to fail. He received a plaque for his years of faithfulness to the church and the community. He helped many people and was always ready to lend a hand. His sister, Effie Lee, brothers Tommy and Lee Edward along with his mother and father preceded him in death. Left to cherish his memory are one brother, Henry (Jean) Calhoun; two sisters, Inez V. Turner and Gladys M. Hunter (Tucker); nephews, Ricky Plez, Vaughn Turner, Jeffery M. Turner, Jerry H. Hunter, John Carter; nieces Amanga R. Plez, Videtta Putman, Debra Gilder, a special God Child, Cadedra Sweet, and a host of grand nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends.
