A truck driver and a resident of Baton Rouge, he died at 8:45 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2011, in Baton Rouge. He was 65, a native of Batchelor and U.S. Army veteran. Visiting at Mount Carmel Baptist Church, 5262 Prescott Road, on Friday, Feb. 11, from 9 a.m. until religious service at 10 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Christopher Neal. Interment in Port Hudson National Cemetery. Survived by his sisters, May Smith Goza and Janice M. Smith; brothers, John B. Smith, Terry W. Smith and Leroy Smith; godchild, Shannon Smith; and godmother, Doretha Lee. Preceded in death by his mother, Albertha Smith; father, Wilson Smith Jr.; sister, Carrie Smith; brother, David Smith; nieces, Doris Smith, Natasha Penn, Latoya Goza; and nephew, Steven Smith.
