We mourn the loss and Celebrate the Life and Legacy of Michael W. Williams, Sr.
Celebration of Life Services for Michael Wayne Williams,
Sr., 59, will be held Saturday, March 5, 2022 at 11 am in
Winnfield Funeral Home Chapel, 3701 Hollywood Ave,
Shreveport, Louisiana. Officiating will be his nephew,
Minister Termaine Williams of Shiloh Baptist Church,
Benton, Louisiana. Interment will follow at Forest Park
Cemetery, 3700 Saint Vincent Avenue, Shreveport.
Open visitation will be Friday, March 4, 2022 from 1 pm
until 5 pm at Winnfield Funeral Home. Michael passed
away Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at Saint Joseph Hospice in
Shreveport.
Michael Wayne Williams, Sr., the youngest son of the late
Willie "Bill" Williams and Emma Lee Williams, was born
on September 7, 1962, in Shreveport, Louisiana.
Michael accepted Christ at an early age while growing up
in Bossier City, Louisiana. He was baptized at Fellowship
Missionary Baptist Church, Bossier City, Louisiana under
the pastorage of the late Reverend T. C. Coleman. Michael
attended Bossier Parish schools and graduated from Bossier
High School in 1980. After graduating high school, Michael
was employed with Arkla Gas/CenterPoint Energy as a gas
meter reader. Michael retired from CenterPoint Energy
after more than 22 years of service.
Michael loved swimming, and diving. During his teenager
years, he won many diving awards. Michael competed in
boxing and entered competitions with the Steve Dement
boxing club in Bossier City. He also loved the outdoors and
was an avid deer hunter. His hobbies were fishing,
motorcycling and horseback riding.
Michael enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
He had a great sense of humor and wonderful smile. Michael
was a joy to be around and kept everyone laughing.
Michael united in holy matrimony to Linda Collins in
June 1993. To this union, a son was born, Michael Wayne
Williams, Jr (MJ).
Michael was preceded in death by his father, Willie
Williams, and his grandparents. Michael departed this
life on Tuesday, March 1, 2022, at Saint Joseph Hospice in
Shreveport, Louisiana. He leaves to cherish his memory,
his wife, Linda Collins-Williams; one son, Michael, Jr.
(MJ); mother, Mrs. Emma Lee Williams of Bossier City;
two sisters, Mae Betty Williams Moore, Bossier City, and
Dorothy Ann Hines and husband Greg, Haslet, Texas; two
brothers, George L. Williams and wife Cynthia, Bossier City
and Ray Williams and wife Shelia, Shreveport; and a host of
nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.
