Obituary

A funeral service will be held at St. Augustines Catholic Church in Isle Brevelle at 12:00 noon on Saturday, July 16, 2011. Visitation with the family will take place at the church hall prior to service from 9:00 " 11:45 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in honor of Marie Llorens Roque to St. Augustine Catholic Church in Isle Brevelle, LA. Marie Llorens Roque, age 88 of Cane River, Louisiana, passed away Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at the Courtyard of Natchitoches in Natchitoches, LA. She was a long time resident of the Cane River community. During her career of over 40 years, she worked for Avon, the Natchitoches Area Action Association (NAAA), and lastly retired as Director of the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP). Throughout her working career, she received several awards and was often recognized for her outstanding community service. In addition to her strong work ethic, she was a devoted member of St. Augustine Catholic church and served as president of the Christian Mothers and Parish Council for many years. Marie is preceded in death by her husband, Earl Anthony Roque; her parents Alfred and Louise Jones Llorens; four brothers, Manuel, Alfred Jr., Eddie, and Edwin Llorens; three sisters, May Louise, Lucille, and Mabel; and one son, Earl Michael Mike Roque. Those left to cherish her memory include one daughter, Consuella (Connie) Steward (Bruce) of Houston, TX; one daughter-in-law, Theresa Roque of Cane River, LA; two sons Thomas (Tommy) Roque (Kathie) of Cane River, LA and Emitte Roque (Mary) of Houston, TX; one sister, Theresa Roque (James) of Shreveport, LA; ten grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. In appreciation for the compassionate care and nurturance that was provided to Marie, the family would like to thank Dr. Otis Barnum, Natchitoches Regional Medical Center, the staff of Courtyard of Natchitoches, Hospice of Natchitoches, and East Natchitoches Dialysis Facility. A very special thank you to Josephine Chelette and Helen Dalme for their many acts of kindness.
