Obituary

Funeral Services will be held at the Evergreen Baptist Church of St. Maurice, LA 71471 Saturday, January 15, 2011 at 11:00 a. m. with public visitation at the church from 9:00 a. m. until service time. Burial will take place in the church's cemetery. Mr. McArthur Logan was born July 19, 1938 in St. Maurice, LA to the parentage of the late Mr. Edward Logan and Mrs. Magnolia Gistand Logan Seawood; however, he was blessed to have been reared by Magnolia Seawood and Willie Seawood. He was called to his eternal rest January 11, 2011. He joined the Evergreen Baptist Church at age 10 in August of 1948 under the leadership of Rev. W. T. Wilson. His education in life began at his mothers ever nurturing knee and continued in a formal manner with the public schools of Winn Parish where he was under the instruction of teachers at New Enterprise and J. W. Gaines High School in Montgomery, LA. He moved his family to Houston in 1961 and he worked at Ideal Cement Company for many years. He returned to Louisiana in 1992 and reunited with the Evergreen Baptist Church under the leadership of the Rev. Elbert Demery, Jr. Macks chosen vocation was in the area of General Contracting where he learned every facet of building construction without fail. His efficiency in these areas earned him an enviable professional reputation among builders. He often referred to himself as Jack of all trades but Master of none! He married Johnnie Mae Davis September 2, 1961 and to this union 4 children were born, Anthony, Kristy Lynett, Stephon and Rodney. Preceding him in death were Mr. Edward Logan and Mrs. Magnolia Gistand Logan Seawood, Mr. Willie Seawood; two sisters, Wanda Seawood and Virda Logan and one daughter, Kristy Lynett Jackson. Left to cherish his memory are three sons, Anthony R. Davis and wife Rose of Colfax, LA, Stephon Logan and wife Myrt of Alexandria, LA and Rodney Logan and wife Dina of Oxnard, CA, one daughter, Katrina Rhodes of Houston, TX; two sisters, Mae Frances Logan of Houston, TX, Yvonne Qualls of Richmond, CA; four brothers, Winfred Seawood (Stacy) of Houston, TX, Donald Wayne Seawood of St. Maurice, LA, Melvin Seawood (Betty) of Natchitoches, LA. and Lawrence Seawood (Anedra) of Natchitoches, LA; a beloved close friend, Grace Wardsworth of Natchitoches, LA and a very unique person Johnnie Mae Coutee, ten grandchildren; and twelve great grandchildren; 5 aunts, 1 uncle and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
