Homegoing Services will be celebrated for Mrs. Lucille Ratliff at the North Star Baptist Church in Powhatan, LA Thursday, March 11, 2010 at 11:00 a. m. with public visitation at the church from 9:30 a. m. to service time. Burial will follow in the St. Luke Cemetery under the direction of Winnfield Funeral Home of Natchitoches. Sister Lucille Taylor Ratliff was born February 21, 1927 to the late Ernest Taylor and Patsy Green in Natchitoches, Louisiana. Sister Ratliff accepted Christ at an early age and joined the St. Luke Baptist Church where she remained a faithful member until death. Sister Ratliff graduated from Central High School. She was employed by Northwestern State University from which she retired following a tenure of service. She also worked many years at Evangeline and Natchitoches Manor Nursing Homes. Sister Ratliff was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Rita Ann Ratliff and two brothers, Lodis Pratt and Mervin Gay. She was united in Holy Matrimony to Mr. Luther Ratliff, Sr. on January 26, 1946. They celebrated sixty-four beautiful years of marriage. To this union, six children were born. She leaves to cherish her loving memory a loving husband, Luther Ratliff, Sr., three daughters, Erna Mary Gay (Charles) of Natchitoches, LA; Earnestine Randle of Houston, TX, Delores Haskett (Steve) of Natchitoches, LA; two sons, Luther Ratliff (Jane) of Natchitoches, LA; and Richard Ratliff (Falanda) of Natchitoches, LA, 31 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren, 4 great, great grandchildren; one sister, Ida B. Fisher of Natchitoches, LA and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
