LOUELLA GOINS DAVIS Mrs. Louella Goins Davis was born February 22, 1913 in Natchitoches, Louisiana to the parentage of the late Mr. Henry Goins and Mrs. Hattie Crockett Goins. She was the second of four children which blessed this home. Her education was received at the hands of teachers in the historical Lincoln Institute, the forerunner of Natchitoches Parish Training School and Central High School where she completed the seventh grade requirements at that time. Mrs. Davis married the late Mr. Haynes Davis, Sr. and to that union two children were born, Haynes Davis, Jr. and Hattie Mae Davis Anderson. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her three sisters, Nettie Henderson, Clara Weaver and Alberta Fisher and a granddaughter, Cassandra Davis. It was during the period of her youth that she united with the Gaines Chapel A. M. E. Church and remained faithful until her passing on December 15, 2009 at the Courtyard Facility of Natchitoches. At the time of her demise, she was the oldest member of the Gaines Chapel Church family. She served dutifully as President of the Pastors Aide Organization, member of the Stewardess Board, member of the Missionary Board, member of the Usher Board and the parishioner who instituted the distribution of the Mothers Day tags until the local manufacturer no longer made them. In fact, there was no area of endeavor at Gaines Chapel A. M. E. where Mrs. Davis did not give her time, energy and financial resources. She even served for many years as the person who prepared food for various activities at the church. She held membership with the W. L. Carroll, O. E. S. #4, Household of Ruth, Isaac and Rebecca, Heroines of Jericho, Portia T. Pantallion Amaranth Court, Natchitoches Parish Voters & Civic League and the Hibiscus Garden Club. She was a conscientious citizen who was always ready to participate in movements that would improve her community. She will be remembered for her efforts in promoting the erection of what is now the L. P. Vaughn Elementary School and for her assistance with the maintenance of the Breda Town Cemetery. She will forever be cherished by her son, Haynes Davis, Jr. (Reina) of Sacramento, CA., and her daughter, Hattie Davis Anderson, of Natchitoches; __ grandchildren, Larry Rogers (Judia) Rozelle, N.
