A resident and native of Baton Rouge, she died Sunday, Sept. 5, 2010, at Baton Rouge General Medical Center-Bluebonnet, at age 67. Visiting at St. George Catholic Church on Saturday, Sept. 11, from 9 a.m. until religious service at 11 a.m., conducted by Deacon Tommy St. Pierre. Interment in Southern Memorial Gardens. Survived by her daughters, Tonda Martin, and Jacanda Martin and spouse Johnny Holland; sisters, Miriam Freeman and Gwendolyn Sims; brothers, Cornelius Betz Jr. and Rodrick Betz; and three grandchildren, Tyler, Jace and Jaidyn. Preceded in death by her father, Cornelius Betz Sr.; mother, Thelma Rowley Betz; grandmother, Lucinda Bradford Rowley; grandfather, Henry Rowley. She was a graduate of Southern University with bachelor's degree in 1964 in business education, master's degree in education in 1973, and master's degree plus 30. She was supervisor of instruction with the East Baton Rouge Parish school system.
