On August 30, 2017 at 12:53 P.M., God looked down on earth. He smiled and his eyes fell upon Leola Wiggins. He said, "Well done, my child, well done", and He welcomed home a beautiful spirit back unto His soul.
Sister Leola Anderson was born September 4, 1931 to the late Willie Anderson and Alice Dotson Posey. She had four brothers and two sisters.
She accepted Christ at an early age. She served as a faithful member of Starlight Baptist Church in Greenwood, LA all of her life. She served as both a Deaconess and sang in the Starlight Baptist Church Choir. She loved to read her Bible, and she loved the Lord.
She attended Starlight Baptist Church School for her early education and went on to later receive her Adult Education Completion Certificate from the State of Louisiana in 1965. She grew up working in the cotton fields on May's Farm, until she met and married Joe Wiggins on November 10, 1945. For 46 years they remained husband and wife and were the parents of seven children. She was a mechanic's wife, housewife, farmer, a gardener, a mother, a friend and beloved "Granny". After learning to drive she would frequently volunteer to help drive the elderly, and those in need of a ride.
She had a ministry of calling friends and family to check on them and to tell them that she loved them. Many called her 'Mama' and appreciated that she kept in contact with them. She had a beautiful smile and loved her family, life, animals and working in her many gardens. She had a green thumb and could nurture acres of vegetable plants and flowerbeds at a time. She had a deep appreciation of nature. She also loved to bake tea cakes and give them to her family members and friends.
She is preceded in death by her mother and father three (3) brothers, Robert Posey, John L. Nichols, Willie White; two (2) sisters, Lee Bennie Shaw and Olevia Henderson, three children: Walter Wiggins, Johnny Mack Wiggins and Mayola Larkins; her husband, Joe Wiggins; granddaughter, Valarie W.
