Graham Lewis was born January 27, 1917, to the late Minnie Shelton Graham and Amos Graham of Winnfield, Louisiana. Lena was the oldest of eight children. All preceded her in death except one brother, Oscar Graham of Sacramento, California and one loving Sister-In-Law, Avery (Willie) Alexander of Los Angeles, CA, both preceded her in death. One Wednesday night August 1927, Lena was 12 years old when she came to know Christ and was baptized by Rev. Lewis of Union Hill Baptist Church. Lena was Bap-tized in Kieeast Creek and was told later that there were snakes in Kieeast Creek. Lena stated had she known snakes were in the Creek she would have shouted herself to death. Lena always had a way with words. She was a faithful Christian visiting the sick at the nursing homes and caring for others. Her favorite scripture was James 5:16. She would always say The Prayers of the Righteous Availeth Much . She had a passion for flow-ers and for gardening. Every year in the spring, she could not resist adding just one more flower to her flower garden. She served faithfully at Oak Ridge and Union Hill Baptist Church until her health began to decline. In elementary school, Lena met the love of her life Lonnie T. LT Lewis. They secretly passed love notes to each other in class and their teacher never knew anything about it. Years later they were married in Holy Matrimony in 1937 and remained happily mar-ried until LTs death in 1973. To this union eight children were born. Two preceded her in death, Lonnie Jr. and Aaron. Lena was a loving, devoted and caring wife and mother! Lena leaves to cherish her memories three sons, Eldred (Toni) Lewis of Sacramento, CA, Alton (Alicia) Lewis, Winnfield, LA, Kara (Dorothy) Lewis, Shreveport, LA, three daughters, Ercell (Bernard) Moran, Virginia Beach, VA, Minnie (Tracy preceded her in death) Hobdy, Pasadena, CA and Nelwyn Barnett, Lawrenceville, GA, fourteen grand-children, twenty-five great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
