Obituary - 'To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven; a time to be born, a time to die, a time to plan, and a time to pluck up that which is planted. Funeral Service: Saturday, December 4, 2010 at 11:00 a.m., Mt. Mariah Baptist Church, Kingston, Louisiana, Interment: Mt. Mariah Baptist Church Cemetery, Kingston, Louisiana., Family Hour: Friday, December 3, 2010 from 6:30 to 7:30 in the Chapel of Winnfield Funeral Home. A Time To Be Born - LaShun (Tootie) Boyd was born on March 4, 1972 in Shreveport, Louisiana to her loving and kind parents, Robert Lee and Joan Atkins Boyd. A Time To Live: LaShun graduated from Huntington High School in Shrevport, Louisiana in May 1989. After graduating from high school, she attended Grambling State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice; she obtained her Master Degree from the Universaity of Houston at Clear Lake in 2001. LaShun was employed for 8.5 years with the Texas State Department of Criminal Justice Parole Division in Marshall, Texas and she worked as an Adjunct Professor at Wiley College teaching Criminal Justice. LaShun (Tootie)was a determined young lady who had a heart to always better herself and her situation. She worked to provide a beautiful and loving for son and family to enjoy. A Time To Lovr: The love of her life happened on November 30, 2007 when she fought against all odds to give birth to her son, Chandler Jamar and on Saturday, November 27, 2010, LaShun went to celebrate his birthday a few days early becasue she had to go home to Glory. A Time For Christ: LaShun was baptized at the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church by the late Reverend Cleveland Douglas. She was an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated where she worked to serve mankind as an extension of her faith in our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. A Time To Depart: LaShun (Tootie) Boyd quietly ascended to her Heavenly Father on November 28, 2010 after her sister Yolanda who cared for her so tenderly during her brief illness. A Time To Mourn: She has created so many beautiful memories for her son Chadler; parents, Robert (Daddy) and Joan to cherish along with her two devoted sisters, Yoland (William) of Shreveport, Louisiana and Kenisha of Dallas, Texas; niece and nephew, Jasmine and Damarsce (Brittney) Thomas; grand niece and nephew, Calep and Caylin Thomas. She has eleven aunts and two who were extra special, Betty Bell and Diane Atkins along with eight uncles and her loving uncle, Robert (Tight) Atkins who her telephone pal. She shared a special relationship with her cousin Nathaniel Andy (Pug) Bell and her close friend, Tasha Dawson and her Godchild, Dawson. She is also survived by her paternal grandparents, Jose Pennington of Houston, Texas and Haymond Boyd, Sr. of Shreveport, Louisiana. However, her maternal grandparents, Homer and Ethel Atkins preceded her in death. LaShun was blessed to have so many other wonderful family members too numerous t name, but she loved them dearly.
