On Thursday, the 15th day of May, year two-thousand and eight, the Lord called for his angel, Kimberly LaJuan Hamilton-Oliphant to come home to her eternal resting place in the Kingdom of Heaven. Kim was born on July 16th, 1973 in Natchitoches Parish Hospital to her parents Lola Hamilton and Alvin Ray Matthews. She took the right hand of Rev. H.P. Barnum confirming her belief in the life, death, and resurrection of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at an early age and continued to serve in the church under his leadership until his departure. She continued to attend church at First Baptist Church--Amulet St. under the spiritual guidance of family friend, Rev. Dr. J.D. Dupree. She was joined in Holy Matrimony with Jay D. Oliphant, Jr., and they attended church at First Baptist Church-- North St. under the leadership of Rev. G. Stanley Lewis. Kim graduated from Natchitoches Central High School in 1991 and went on to pursue and obtain her Bachelors Degree from Northwestern State University of Louisiana. She was employed at the W.A.R.E. Correction Facility in Red River Parish as an educator for the special and behavioral disorder students. Her employment at the time of her demise was with the Natchitoches Parish School Board as a Migrant Education Facilitator where she has touched the lives of so many kids throughout the school system through her kind words, open ears, and subtle advice. She gave everything that she could in everyway she knew how. Kim was a very gentle and kind soul that loved to help out, touching the lives of many and never asking for anything nor would she ever expect anything in return; this was just the main characteristic of Kim that everyone who knew her came to know and love. She stood soundly in her opinions and always held her word. She truly exemplified what todays woman is; caring, dedicated, domestic, sincere, solid, well-rounded but most of all she was LOVING. She leaves to celebrate her life and cherish her memories, her loving husband of 12 years Jay Dee Oliphant, Jr. of Natchitoches, LA; their two children Kaitlin (12) and Jay Dee Oliphant, III (5); loving parents Lola Hamilton of Natchitoches, LA and Alvin Ray Matthews of Los Angeles, CA; adoring brothers DeMarquis Hamilton of Natchitoches, LA and Michael Johnson of Houston, TX. In addition, she leaves behind a loving godmother, her Aunt Nancy as well as caring godsister, LaShonda Berryman. She also leaves behind a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, family, and friends whom she loved and cared for each in her own individual way. A good name is better than fine perfume and the day of death better than the day of birth. It is better to go to a house of mourning than to go to a house of feasting, for death is the destiny of every man; the living should take this to heart. Sorrow is better than laughter because a sad face is good for the heart. Ecclesiastes 7: 1-3 Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 21, 2008, 10 am at the Natchitoches Event Center with the Rev. J.D. Dupree officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, 9 am until service time at the Event Center. Burial will be in the Lawrence Serenity
