Joyce G. Mitchell, loving mother, grandmother,and great-grandmother, passed away Monday, May 12, 2025, in Shreveport, LA.
Joyce Gertrude Mitchell was born on June 8, 1930, in Princes Town, Trinidad, British West Indies. She was born to John Felix and Agatha (Beryl Richardson) Superville and the only daughter among four sons. She met Davis Mitchell, her future husband, with whom she later immigrated to the United States in 1956. She aspired to become a U.S. citizen, and in 1996, her dream came to fruition.
She was employed by Mr. Jack Danciger for 10 years, after which she moved to Forest Hill, TX, where she continued her attentive care for her four children and assisted her son, Dr. Earl Mitchell, at his new dental practice. She loved her family and took great pleasure in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and will be profoundly missed.
Joyce was a long-time member of Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church in Fort Worth, TX, the Saint Anne's Altar Society, and Jack and Jill of America, Inc.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Davis, four siblings, and her son, Warren P. Mitchell.
She is survived by: sons, Dr. Earl Mitchell and his wife, Janis, of Weatherford, TX and Donald Mitchell of Fort Worth, TX; daughter, Sister Margaret A. Mitchell, O.L.S., of Shreveport, LA.; daughter-in-law, Pauline Mitchell of Arlington, TX; grandchildren, Logan, Nealeigh, Lindsay, Alaina, Maeve, and Rory Mitchell; great-grandson Jon Everett Sanders and great-granddaughter, Beau Sanders; nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
The Mitchell family would like to express their deep gratitude to Kimberly Johnson who lovingly took care of Joyce.
Rosary begins at 6:00 p.m. May 23, 2025, at the Sisters of Our Lady of Sorrows Convent.
Funeral Mass: 10 a.m. Saturday, May 24, 2025, at the Sisters of Our Lady of Sorrows Convent.
Burial: 11 a.m. May 27, 2025, at Skyvue Memorial Gardens in Rendon, TX.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the ALS Association or Alzheimer's Association.
