Obituary

A retired employee with Kaiser Aluminum, he died Monday, Aug. 9, 2010, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. He was 83, a resident of Baton Rouge and native of Lettsworth. Visiting at Shiloh Baptist Church, 185 Eddie Robinson Sr. Drive, Friday, Aug. 13, from 9 a.m. until religious service at noon, conducted by the Rev. Charles T. Smith. Interment with military honors at 12:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 16, at Port Hudson National Cemetery. Survived by his wife, Henrietta S. Colbert; daughters, Beverly and spouse Jerry Diamond, Gwendolyn C. Colbert, and Yolanda and spouse Anthony Dixon Sr.; sons, the Rev. Aubrey Colbert and spouse Linda, Donald Ray Colbert, Gregory W. Colbert, and Edward Colbert Sr. and spouse Nerico; sisters, Evelyn Haynes and Corrine Dandridge; brothers, Irving Colbert Sr. and George Colbert Sr.; 13 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, brother-in-law, two sisters-in-law and a host of nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Sr. and Lucille Colbert; son, John A. Colbert Jr.; sisters, Pearl Colbert, Annie Bell Williams, Julia Dreaux, Gloria Keys and Bertha Percy; and brothers, Bertry Colbert and Joseph Colbert Sr. Services entrusted to Winnfield Funeral Home.
