Jeanie Mae Grant Jeanie Grant was born in New Orleans on Aug. 9, 1950, and raised in Baton Rouge. She was a 1968 graduate of Capitol Senior High School and was employed as a security officer until becoming disabled in 1998. She departed this life at LSU Earl K. Long Medical Center on Saturday, Oct. 11, 2008. She is survived by three daughters, Jacquelyn Brown and husband Michael, and Dorothy and Delesia Grant; four grandchildren, Michael Jr. and Brianna Brown and Chevonne and Dionne Powell; four brothers, Alvin and Donald Grant and Henry Jr. and Nathan Nelson; and four sisters, Marion Nelson, Venita Walker and D'Evelyn and Camille Nelson. Preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy Lee Grant and Henry Nelson; and brother, Alton Grant. Memorial service at Winnfield Funeral Home at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18.
