Funeral services for Mrs. Irnia M. Holmes age 90 of Natchitoches will be held on Saturday November 7, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Winnfield Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Lawrence Serenity Sanctum. Visitation will be held on Friday November 6 from 5-9 p.m. at Winnfield Funeral Home. Mrs. Irnia Mae Holmes was born in Natchitoches, Louisiana December 5, 1919 to the late Henry and Florence McDaniel, a blessed and highly favored mother. She departed this life Sunday, November 1, 2009 at the Natchitoches Regional Medical Center. She gave her life to Christ at an early age and became a member of the St. Savior Baptist Church (Cane River). Mrs. Holmes was married to the late Ben Holmes, Sr. and to this union twelve children were born of which nine survive her: Louvell Armstrong of Houston, TX, Martha Holmes of Natchitoches, LA, Mammie Jefferson of Natchitoches, LA, Shirley Daniels of Natchitoches, LA, Bobbie Broussard of Houston, TX, Leo Holmes, Sr. of Many, LA, Linda Fontenot of Houston, TX, Oscar Holmes of Natchitoches, LA and Kelvin Holmes of Natchitoches, LA. Sister Holmes was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Florence McDaniel, her husband, Ben Holmes, Sr. and three children, Ben Holmes, Jr., Freddie Mae Holmes and Terry Holmes, Sr. Mrs. Holmes is also survived by twenty one grandchildren, twenty eight great grandchildren and six great, great grandchildren.
