Ida Mae Payne (Stevenson), our loving mother and grandmother, died Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2010, at the Butterfly Wing of Baton Rouge General Medical Center. She was 83, a resident of Baton Rouge and a native of New Orleans. Survived by a devoted son, Joe Stevenson and his wife, Diane, of Baton Rouge; seven grandchildren, India Michelle Stevenson, Joe Stevenson and his wife, Shaniya, Angela S. Wells and her husband, Christopher, and Katrina, Mary, Jason and Kianna Stevenson, all of Baton Rouge; 10 great-grandchildren, Tequila, Gregory, Makayla and Karlie Stevenson, Ta'Lacia Franklin, Christanique and Ja'Lere Wells and Latrell, Jamal and Jeremiah Wilkins, all of Baton Rouge; four great-great-grandchildren, Alonte, Michael III, Mikel and Markel Moore, all of Baton Rouge; two brothers, Johnny Thomas and his wife, Betty, of Dallas and Eddie Thomas and his wife, Laura, of New Sarpy; four sisters, Lillie Scott, of Destrehan, Elizan Sherman, Classie Windfield and her husband, Melvin, and Jessie M. LaFrance and her husband, Carlton, of New Orleans; aunt, Mary Allen, of Baton Rouge; and uncle, Samuel Hart Jr. and his wife, Ruth, of Las Vegas. She is also survived by a special friend, Leona Williams; the Reily family, who treasured her loving care, Jean Y. Reily, Lawrence A. Reily, Marilyn Reily Percy, and Liz Reily Vicknair; and by numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers and numerous aunts and uncles. Visitation will be at Winnfield Funeral Home, 7221 Plank Road, on Tuesday, Dec. 21, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with family visitation being held from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. There will be a graveside memorial service at the Winnfield Memorial Park on Wednesday, Dec. 22, at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Robert H. Lacy III. The family would like to express special thanks and gratitude to the doctors and staff of Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center, Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center and the Butterfly Wing of the Baton Rouge General Medical Center.
