Obituary

Funeral services for Helen Sims will be Saturday March 21, 2009 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home chapel Elder Otis Mack officiating. Interment will follow in Rosa Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be friday 6-9 at the funeral home. Mrs. Sims an educator age 68 of Marthaville passed away March 15, 2009 at Sabine Medical Center. She was the oldest of four daughters, born to the union of Tince and Helen Atmore Williams August 2, 1940 in Crockett, TX. She grew up in the church and accepted Christ as her personal Savior at an early age. She worked diligently in many capabilities, secretary/treasurer at Pleasant Hill C.O.G.I.C. until her death. She was educated in Sabine Parish and after 12th grade attended Grambling State University and Texas Southern University to farther her education. Her love for children led her to become an educator for the Sabine Parish School System for 34 years. Helen united in Holy Matrimony to Johnnie Sims Jr. in 1975 and to this union one son was born, Johnnie Sims III. Her memories will be forever cherished by her husband, Johnnie Sims, Jr., sons, Johnnie Sims III, Herman Sims; three sisters, Carolyn (Murphy) Richardson of Houston, TX, Ada W. (Thomas) Steward, Clary (Larry) James both of Shreveport, LA, one aunt Mattie Rims of Houston, TX, and a host of nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, cousins, friends, and Pleasant Hill Church family.
