The Life of Helen Barnes Johnson….
I Helen Barnes Johnson was born on April 25, 1926 to the union of the late Willie and Anna Franks Barnes in Shelbyville, Texas. I was the fifth child of eight born to this union. I was a life long resident of Logansport, Louisiana. I transitioned from this life to my heavenly home on Friday, August 25, 2017 at the blessed age of ninety-one years old.
I was concerned with spiritual matters, so I confessed Christ as my personal Savior at an early age and was baptized at the Union Vine Baptist Church of Logansport, Louisiana. As an active member of Union Vine Baptist Church, I served as a loyal & devoted church secretary. Later, I united with the St. Luke Baptist Church in Mansfield, Louisiana until my health begin to fail.
I attended the public schools in Desoto Parish and upon graduation I continued my education at Grambling State College (Grambling State University) where I received a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. I also received a Master Degree + 30 in Elementary and Secondary Education from Texas Southern College, known now as Southern Texas University. I became a School Teacher for many years at Johnson Elementary and Desoto Junior High in Mansfield, Louisiana.
I met the love of my life, Robert Johnson in Mansfield, Louisiana we were united in holy matrimony on October 25, 1961.
I leave to cherish my memories, one {1} sister, Sallie Bingamon of Dallas, TX; one {1}sister in-law, Ruth Marie Barnes of Logansport, LA; A very special nephew/son Glynn L.
