Sister Gertrude "Gert" Ellis Gibson, having lived a full life of love and dedication to her family, friends, church and community, entered into eternal rest on the morning of Tuesday, August 11, 2020 at the age of 87 years
Gert was born to the late Will Ellis and late Veola Wesley Ellis on February 11, 1933 in Shreveport, Louisiana. She accepted Christ at a very young age and baptized by her grandfather, the late Reverend Richard Wesley at the New Bethel Baptist Church at Williams, Louisiana; she remained a member under the leadership of now Pastor Reverend Noah Johnson.
Gert joins her decreased daughter, Leanna Gibson Pennington and now leaves to cherish her memories and exemplary life of thanksgiving, gratefulness, caring and sharing with others, her children, Barbara Nell Barnes of Stonewall, LA, Lyndell Gibson of Grand Prairie, TX, Dorothy Ann Gibson of Sugar Land, TX, Bridgette Ellis- & Don James of Shreveport, LA, Danyield Evette & Anthony Brown of Shreveport, and Monyardda Deon Gibson of Houston, TX; fifteen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren, two siblings, Ruby Ellis and Charles Ellis, both of Shreveport, LA.
