Obituary

Geneva was born January 8, 1931 in Bellevue, Louisiana to Irene Shepard Loyd and Edgar Loyd. She transitioned peacefully to her heavenly home in the care of her loving daughter Pauline Johnson Walker in Shreveport, Louisiana. Geneva was educated in Shreveport and lived a life devoted to her family and friends. She always called or visited to check on family members and neighbors. She had a servant's heart as well as a strong faith in Jesus Christ. She was a faithful member of the Pineville Baptist Church. Over her life she was a foodservice worker in the Houston Independent School District, a business owner in Houston, and a housekeeper in Shreveport where she retired. She always lived an independent life and never expected anything to be done for her without offering compensation to those who helped her. She loved blessing others. Geneva loved to bowl, play billiards, sew, and read God's Word. Her spirit was so giving, that people wanted to do things for her. She touched many lives, some we will never know about. She became "Mama" to her neighbors. She never failed to tell anyone going through something to pray and give it over to God. Even though she couldn't see it in herself, she was very outgoing and she didn't mind talking to anyone, giving them a smile or a word of encouragement. She could make fence post have a conversation. She was preceded in death by her parents, Irene and Edgar Loyd, four sisters, Mary Cain, Irene Jackson, Zenobia McDaniel and Refus Lott, her son Charles Johnson, stepson Rollins Carrie, and her grandson Christopher McGrew. She leaves to cherish her memory, a multitude of family and friends, Uncle Adell Shepard, daughters Doris Young (Lanell, Sr.), Pauline Walker (Clifford, Sr.), Step-daughter Philys Johnson, Stepson Mark Brown, grandchildren Lanell Young, II (Sandra), Jarrod Young, Jeremy Young, Angela Johnson, Clifford Walker, Jr, Terry Johnson (LaToya), Joseph Jackson, Tamara McGrew, 18 Great Grandchildren, and 2 Great-Great Grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and other family members she loved. We mourn the loss and Celebrate the Life and Legacy of Mrs. Geneva Johnson 86, of Shreveport, La. Please keep the Johnson Family lifted in your prayers.
