Frank Poppee Thomas was born on November 24, 1952 to the union of the late James Bat Thomas and Lessie Lee (Thomas) Cyriak. Frank accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at St. Savior Baptist Church. He attended Central High School in Natchitoches, LA where he was a profound football player, better known as Hammer Head . He also had a deep passion for music and played bass drum in Central High Band. In 1974 he married the love of his life Rose L. Llorens. To this union two loving daughters were gifted, Kimberly Thomas (Nathan) of Natchitoches and Rose Truesdale (Gerald) of Arlington, TX, four grandchildren; Kendra Graham, Ashley and Maddison Bayonne of Natchitoches and Hyman Cosby of Vicksburg, MS and one great-grandson Kaden James Graham. Frank worked as a trailer truck (Diesel) operator where he drove cross-country for PAM Trucking Company for many years and later became a diesel mechanic. Although he loved truck driving his true passion was his family. Frank was also a co-founder of DAP Drug Awareness and Prevention, Inc. of Natchitoches. He was also an active Board member of The Breda Town Cemetery Committee. Visitation will be Friday, February 11th from 6pm to 9pm at Winnfield Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 11am Saturday, February 12th, 11:00 a. m. at Winnfield Funeral Home officiated by Rev. Melvin Smith, Rev. Joe Dupree and Rev. Acie Jefferson. Interment will follow at St. Savior Baptist Church. He is preceded in death be his parents James Bat Thomas, Lessie Lee (Thomas) Cyriak, two sisters Ruby Lee Parks and Patricia Ann Roberson. He is survived by his wife Rose L. Thomas, two daughters, four grandchildren, one great grandson and eight sisters; Cumalee McDaniel, Mary Tillman, Shirley Coburn, Stella Richards, Linda Johnson, Carolyn Bobb, Dorothy T. Freeman and Cassandra Williams and one brother Michael Thomas. Two godchildren, six brother-in-laws and one sister-in-law and a host of beloved relatives, nieces, nephews and close friends also survive him.
