Obituary

A retired private duty sitter and lifelong resident of Baton Rouge, she died at 3 p.m. Monday, Oct. 25, 2010, at her home. She was 76. Visiting at St. Mary Baptist Church, 1252 N. Acadian Thruway E., Monday, Nov. 1, from 9 a.m. until religious service at 10 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Conway L. Knighton. Interment in Port Hudson National Cemetery. Sister Davis leaves to cherish her memory and celebrate her life a devoted daughter, Claudia Marie Davis; granddaughter, Jasmine DeAnna Davis; great-grandson, Joseph Jordan Amir Davis; and 'play' daughter, Shelia Bankston, all of Baton Rouge; stepbrother, Joseph Jackson Sr. and wife Gloria Mae, White Castle; nieces, Charise Thomas, Baton Rouge, and Haneefah Abdullah and husband Kareem, Port Arthur, Texas; nephew, Patrick N. Thomas; sisters-in-law, Cecile D. Thomas, Houston, and Emma Ellison and Helen Williams and husband Ernest, all of Baton Rouge; brother-in-law, Armadee Davis, Baton Rouge; aunt, Mary Alice Melancon, White Castle; numerous other nieces and nephews; and devoted friends, Rebecca Taylor, Roosevelt Price, Emma Clay and Victoria McKnight. Preceded in death by her parents, Gladys Veal Thomas Mason and Eddie Thomas Sr.; stepfather, Joe Mason; husband, Isaac Davis; brothers, Eddie Thomas Jr. and Alfred Thomas; sister-in-law, Carrie Thomas; brothers-in-law, Jessie Davis and Tim Ellison; and aunts and uncles.
