A native of Woodville, Miss., he passed away Saturday, July 24, 2010, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge. He was a bricklayer-operator with Arnold's Masonary. He will be missed dearly by all those who knew and loved him. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Evelyn T. Prater; daughter, Tammie Prater; son, Frederick Prater; father-in-law, Henry C. Thomas; three stepdaughters, Tamala Johnson, Brandi Johnson and Hope Johnson; a stepson, Courtney Johnson Sr.; nine brothers, six sisters, five sisters-in-law, five grandsons, three granddaughters, great-grandson, four great-granddaughters and a host of relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene Prater Sr. and Alene Dawson Prater; daughter, Annie P. Spears; a brother, R.T. Prater; and a sister, Edna Mae Dennis. Visitation will be at Winnfield Funeral Home on Saturday, July 31, from 8:30 a.m. until services at 10 a.m., conducted by Brother Wilbert Dyer. Entombment in Greenoaks Memorial Park. Repast at Greenoaks Reception Hall.
