Equilla Louise Brown

Oct 1, 1931 — Jun 15, 2026

Mrs. Equilla Louise "Pea" Brown met and married the love of her life, Charles Brown, Sr., and together they were blessed with seven sons and one daughter. Equilla attended Grambling State University, where she earned her bachelor's degree in education. She dedicated more than 20 years of her life to educating and inspiring young minds as a Caddo Heights Elementary school teacher. Throughout her teaching career, she touched countless lives with her patience, compassion, and unwavering commitment to helping children learn and succeed.

Equilla cherished spending time with her family and was known for her warm hospitality. Whenever relatives came to visit, she would rise early to prepare breakfast, ensuring everyone was well-fed and cared for. Her home was a place of love, laughter, and fellowship, where family and friends always felt welcome. In her leisure time, she enjoyed fishing, solving crossword puzzles, playing slot machines, and scratching lottery tickets.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of more than 50 years, Charles Brown, Sr.; her daughter, Patricia Johnson; her son, Darien Brown; and all seven of her siblings.

She leaves to cherish her precious memory her children: Charles Brown, Jr., Dale LaRue Brown, Lee Marvin Brown, Donald Ray Brown, Ronald Roy Brown, and Cedric Police Brown; 10 grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren; and a multitude of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends who will forever treasure her love, wisdom, and legacy.
