Elsie 'Mama Elsie' Nettles A homemaker and a resident of Baton Rouge, she died Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2008, at 6:15 a.m. at Promise Specialty Hospital. She was 96 and a native of Zachary. Visiting at Winnfield Funeral Home on Monday, Sept. 8, from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Religious service at the funeral home on Tuesday at 1 p.m., conducted by Bishop Louis O'Bear. Interment in Winnfield Memorial Park. Survived by her six sons, Donald Nettles, Edward Dyson, Eddie McCaleb, Lawrence Dyson, Lazarro Nettles and Sean Nettles; a granddaughter, Vashti Nettles and a great-grandchild, Sandi Huggins. Preceded in death by her parents, Romey and Josephine Atkins; husband, Benjamin Nettles; four sisters and two brothers.
