Obituary Of Mrs. Ella Mae Metoyer I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. 2 Timothy 4:7 A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Mrs. Ella Mae Metoyer at the St. Anthony Catholic Church, 911 5th Street, Natchitoches, LA Saturday, July 23, 2011 at 11:00 a. m. The family will receive friends at a wake on the preceding Friday evening from 6:00 p. m. to 9:00 p. m. at the Winnfield Funeral Home. A recitation of the Holy Rosary is scheduled for 7:00 p. m. on Friday. Immediately following the Funeral Mass, interment will take place at the St. Augustine Catholic Church Cemetery, Isle Brevelle, LA. Mrs. Metoyer passed Sunday, July 17, 2011 at the Natchitoches Regional Medical Center. Ella Mae Metoyer was born August 3, 1924 in Melrose, LA to the parentage of the late Simeon and Florestine Dupree Metoyer. She was one of eight siblings, six of which preceded her in death: Eunice Rachal, Theresa Metoyer, Rosalie Llorance, Anthony Tony Metoyer, Chester Metoyer and Simeon Metoyer, Jr. On April 18, 1943, Ella Mae married the love of her life, Simon Metoyer, who preceded her in death. This union was blessed with six children. Ella Mae was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who loved to have her family members near. Everyone who knew Ella Mae enjoyed her jolly spirit and sweet voice often times calling you Chere or telling you that you have time to visit longer. She also loved to bake, garden and tend to her home. She leaves to cherish her memories three daughters, Lucille Knowles (Robert), Theresa Smith (Melvin) both of Shreveport, LA and Ella Marie Smith of Natchitoches, LA; three sons, Joseph Metoyer (Mary Ann) and Michael Robert Metoyer of Natchitoches, LA and John Wesley Metoyer (Renee) of Shreveport, LA; fifteen grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy LaCour (Jake) and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She leaves to cherish her memories three daughters, Lucille Knowles (Robert), Theresa Smith (Melvin) both of Shreveport, LA and Ella Marie Smith of Natchitoches, LA; three sons, Joseph Metoyer (Mary Ann) and Michael Robert Metoyer of Natchitoches, LA and John Wesley Metoyer (Renee) of Shreveport, LA; fifteen grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy LaCour (Jake) and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
