Elijah Griffin, 81, affectionately called "E," transitioned on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at the Overton Brooks VA Medical Center, Shreveport, Louisiana.
Elijah was born August 17, 1943, to Emma Griffin and Chris Gillyard.
Elijah was educated in the Caddo Parish School Systems and was a 1962 graduate of Union High School. He served in the US Air Force from 1963 – 1967 and served in the Reserves.
Elijah enjoyed riding his bicycle "all over" Shreveport, which he did daily. He enjoyed yard work and later created a Lawn and Landscape business and worked until he became ill three years ago. Elijah cherished and loved his family.
Elijah was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Melvin Gillyard, Bradley Gillyard, and Ida Thomas Oatis.
He leaves to remember his life: Siblings: Mattie Bell, Dallas, TX; Annie Scott, Dallas, TX; Glenda Gillyard, Mansfield, LA; Velma Dumas, Shreveport, LA; Daisy G. Reed, Inglewood, CA; Betty G. Griggs (Ostell), Compton, CA; Sampson Gillyard, Mansfield, LA; Charlie "Ricky" Gillyard, Shreveport, LA; Sister-in-Laws: Shirley Gillyard and Gloria Gillyard; nephews, nieces, grand-nephews, grandnieces and great-grandnieces/nephews along with a host of relatives, neighbors and friends.
