Obituary

We mourn the loss and Celebrate the Life and Legacy of Mrs. Eddie Mae Plater 70, of Shreveport, La. EDDIE MAE PLATER was born July 25, 1947 to Floyd and Elese Johnson in Shreveport, Louisiana. She confessed Christ at a young age and was baptized at the Shady Grove Baptist Church #2, where she remained a faithful member and served as an usher for many years. Eddie was joined in holy matrimony to Henry Lee Plater of Forbing, Louisiana on August 30, 1964; exactly 53 years ago. This unio9n was blessed with two daughters, Sharon (Plater) Summage and Patrainia (Plater) Aikens. Family was everything to her and each Sunday was spent worshiping and breaking bread with those she loved. Her life was not complete without friends that she met along life's journey. She was a member of the Order of Easter Star, Stoner Hill Chapter No. 117, and the Queen Esther Court No.1, Heroines of Jericho. She loved traveling, good food, and socializing with friends and family. After learning how to swim, she could not be kept out of the water. She always welcomed everyone with a smile, bubbly personality and a great sense of humor. Her travels carried her from the states to international waters. She was a very fashion conscious lady, and will be remembered for her style and mighty presence. She asked to see 70 years, and she was blessed to do so. "If you delight yourself in the Lord, he will give you the desires of the heart." (Psalm 31:4) On Tuesday morning, December 12, 2017, she entered her eternal sleep. "Do not stand at my grave and weep. I am not there; I do not sleep. I am a thousands winds that blow. I am the diamond glints on snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain. I am gentle autumn's rain. When you awaken in the morning's hush, I am the swift uplifting rush. Of quiet birds in circled flight, I am the soft stars that shine at night. Do not stand by my grave and cry, I am not there. I did not die." She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Elese Johnson; brother, Floyd Johnson Jr. and sister, Mary Walpool. Cherishing her memories are husband, Henry Lee Plater; daughters, Sharon Summage (Michael) and Patrainia Aikens (Courtney); eights grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; beloved sisters, Mattie Ford and Willie Carroll, along with a host of nieces and nephews.
