A beautiful soul with a big heart who loved unconditionally and dedicated her life
by being the ultimate example of servitude.
Dot was born to the late Kennon Gibson and Gertrude Ellis Gibson on April 9, 1959, in Shreveport, Louisiana. She was the third oldest child of seven children. She accepted Christ as her personal Lord and Savior and was baptized at a young age at the St. John Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. L. D. Sudds. She later united with the Fort Bend Church in Sugar Land, Texas, Rev. Byron C. Stevenson, Pastor. She was a member of the Women's choir and a faithful servant that served diligently until her death.
She attended Grand Bayou Elementary School and Coushatta High School. Dot was a part of the Class of 1977 and graduated as salutatorian. After her high school graduation, she accepted a scholarship to Southern University and graduated in May, 1981 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science. She also received her MBA from the University of Houston. Immediately after college, she relocated to Houston Texas to begin her career with Texaco, currently Chevron Texaco. She was employed for 39 years and retired in July 2020.
