Doris Lee Preston - On the 26th day of January 1943 in Benton, Louisiana, the world welcomed a beautiful baby girl with a smile to light up the world. She was named Doris which means "gift". She was a gift we loved and cherished for seventy-four years. On the early morning of July 30, 2017, God reclaimed His "gift".
Doris worked tirelessly for many years throughout Shreveport and Bossier City in the healthcare field. She was known to always work two or three jobs at the same time. Co-workers and patients were drawn to her calm and compassionate demeanor. Doris retired from LSU Health Sciences Center in 2009 after many years of dedicated service as a nursing assistant.
Doris was a member of Oakland Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. Leonard Rhone, Sr.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Preston Jr., parents Willie and Lula Jimerson and her sister, Mildred Hardiman.
Left to cherish beautiful memories are her eight children: Veronica (Veron) Nelson and Kelvin (Lillian) Preston; two grandchildren she raised Xamien and Meschelle Davis and seven other grandchildren; Jamie, Lula Mary, Vernecia, William, Kelvonna, Ka'Shawna, and Kelvin, Jr. Doris was also blessed with seven great grandchildren: Jaylen, London, Chloe, Kamari, Haiden, Kacelynn, and CJ. She is also survived by brothers Willie (Lillie) and Larry (Gloria); sisters Linda and Bobbye Faye; Special daughter Diana Hullaby (Tremel and Teneshia), a very special friend Judy Morris and a host of nieces, nephews, special siblings, other relatives and special friends.
