Donnie went home to be with the Lord 6:30pm on October 7, 2009 at Natchitoches Regional Medical Center. Donnie was born on August 11, 1953 in Natchitoches, La to the union of Joseph Colson and Susie Jones Colson. Donnie was preceded in death by the love of his life Mary Dolly Smith, his father Joseph Colson Sr. and one brother Joseph Colson Jr. He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter Donna Sheriece Colson of Cape Girardeau, MI; stepson Jamal Smith of Orlando, Fl; his mother Susie Colson of Natchitoches, La; three brothers James Colson of Natchitoches, La, Gregory Colson of Grambling, La, and Seth Colson of Queens, NY. Three sisters; Elizabeth Colson-Lyles of Missouri, TX, Roxanne Colson-Coleman of Natchitohces, La, and Constance Colson-Johnson of Shreveport, La., One brother-n-law Captain Frederick M. Johnson. Three aunts; Ophelia Dumars and Beverly Shields, both of Natchitoches, La. and Freddie Pearl Jones of Queens, NY Three uncles; Maurice Colson of Alexandria, La. Ray Colson of Cane River, La and Ocie Shields of Natchitoches, La. Two close friends; John Bloodworth and Gary Parks. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. his services will be Saturday October 17, @ 2:00pm in the Winnfield Funeral Home Chapel and visitation friday from 6-9pm.
