Funeral Services will be celebrated for Deacon Clinton Demery at the St. Peter Baptist Church in Campti Friday, August 12, 2011 at 11:00 a. m. with burial following in the Campti Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends at a wake service the preceding Thursday evening from 6:00 p. m. to 9:00 p. m. at the Winnfield Funeral Home of Natchitoches, LA. Mr. Clinton Demery was the only surviving child born to the union of the late Mr. Albert Demery and Mrs. Isabella Samuel Demery. He was born in Shreveport, LA November 23, 1946. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers who died in child birth. He confessed Christ as his personal savior, was baptized and united with the Mt. Sinai B.C. under the spiritual guidance of the late Rev. Robert Williams. He later joined the St. Peter B.C. where her remained a loyal member and Deacon where he served under the late Pastor Johnny Pye and Rev. Alfred Williams, III. Deacon Demery was called to his eternal home August 1, 2011 at the Rapides Regional Medical Center following a period of illness. He received his early education at the hands of teachers in the Campti-Creston High School. Paul Quinn College of Waco, TX is where he studied for his college credentials and exercised the benefits of a scholarship in the sport of Basketball. Deacon Demery served his country in the United States Air Force for a number of years and was honorably discharged. He then became employed as a Maintenance Technician with County Pride and Con-Agra Poultry Processing Plant. He was married to his devoted wife, Mrs. Mary Beavers Demery and they enjoyed a period of matrimonial bliss for more than 40 years. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Mrs. Mary Beavers Demery of Campti, LA; three sons, Mr. Timothy Demery (Laura) of Campti, LA, Mr John Demery and Mr. Anthony Demery both of Jacksonville, FL; seven grandchildren, one great grandchild, a long time caregiver who was like a son, Mr. Spencer Bullock of Natchitoches, LA, and a host of other relatives and friends.
