Funeral services for Mr. Cato Davis will be Saturday, September 26, 2009 at the Asbury United Methodist Church, 704 Fifth Street, Natchitoches, Louisiana at 11a.m. with the Reverend James A Graham officiating. Interment will follow services at St. Paul Baptist Church Cemetery in Bermuda, Louisiana. The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. Friday, September 25, 2009 at the Winnfield Funeral Home in Natchitoches. Winnfield is handling arrangements. Mr. Davis, 83, passed away Thursday, September17, 2009 at the Natchitoches Regional Medical Center. He was born July 19, 1926 to the late John Davis and the late Ida Carmichael Davis in St. Croix, United States, Virgin Islands. Many affectionately knew Mr. Davis, a retired Army veteran, as just Cato for his happy fun-loving way. He found the job he loved and worked for many years at Kaffie-Frederick Hardware Store until his health declined. He was a long time devoted member of the Asbury United Methodist Church where he loved to sing in the choir and he was a member of the Dawn of Light Lodge #22. Both family and friends alike will dearly miss him. His loving wife of many years, Mrs. Alma Lee Johnson Davis and one son David Louis Davis, his parents, John and Ida Davis, four brothers and four sisters, preceded him in death. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, three sons, Melvin R. Davis (Maria) of Baton Rouge, John C. Davis (Anna) of Berlin, Germany, and Albert L. Davis of Houston, two daughters Iris Davis Saez of Natchitoches and Alice Faye Davis of Houston, three step-children Henry E. Charles and Emma Charles Carpenter of Natchitoches and Alma Charles Stewart of Baton Rouge, his former wife and subsequent good friend Celestina Solis, 28 grandchildren, 22 great-grand children, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
