A retired employee with the East Baton Rouge Parish school system with 32 years of service, she died Saturday, Oct. 9, 2010, at Baton Rouge General Medical Center-Bluebonnet. She was 74 and a resident of Baton Rouge. Visiting at Winnfield Funeral Home, 7221 Plank Road, on Friday, Oct. 15, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Religious service at Greater New Galilee Baptist Church on Saturday, Oct. 16, at 1 p.m., conducted by Dr. Mark A. Litt Sr. Interment in Southern Memorial Gardens. Survived by her husband of 26 years, Henry M. Colbert Sr.; daughter, Bessie Dalton Delone and husband Edward; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Randolph Sr. and Martha Breckenridge, Ali and Samiyyah Allah, and Reginald Breckenridge Sr.; two sisters, Leola M. Green and Barbara Jean McCalope; brother, Alfred McCalope; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her father, Eugene McCalope; mother, Carrie Johnson; and daughter, Thelma Jean 'Poochie' Armwood. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Greater New Galilee Baptist Church Life Center to serve people in the Scotlandville community.
