Obituary

On June 28, 1953, Mrs. Carolyn J. Taylor, affectionately known as "Jean", was gifted to this world by the late Mr. and Mrs. Oliver J. and Mattie L. Edwards. She lived a

full and joyful life in Shreveport, Louisiana until she entered into eternal rest on November 20, 2022.

Carolyn was a woman of faith. At an early age, she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior, was baptized and served at Mt. Hermon Baptist Church. She continued in her faith and later joined Hurricane Bluff Baptist Church where she worshiped with her family. She graduated from Bethune High School.

Carolyn believed in the importance of marriage and family. She united in holy matrimony to her forever love, Charles R. Taylor Sr. She was a blessing to her family as a housewife raising their 5 children until she began her career at Libbey Glass in 1983 until retiring in 2008. Together, they cultivated a loving family and created many lifelong memories. They were married for nearly 45 years, when Charles was called home to be with the Lord.

Along with her beautiful smile which could light up a stadium, she will be remembered for her radiant personality, caring spirit, and mesmerizing silver afro. She was also a great cook, conversationalist, and often shared laughter, encouraging words, and funny stories with others. She was a very giving beauty who always made her love known in actions and words.

A phenomenal daughter, wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend, Carolyn never met a stranger! Left to cherish her memory are: Frank Edwards Sr. (brother); Children: Monica Taylor, Shunreka Cepeda (Jaime), Kimberly Pennywell (Mongo), Charles Taylor II, and Kelly Green (Demount). Grandchildren: Lee, Jalen, Marsalis, Isis, Anthony, and Kameron; a forever son-in-law: Scott Storey (Lori); Sister-in-law: Judy Bush (James); cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives, a host of friends (who're like family), and acquaintances.
