A retired educator of 33 years, Prince Butler Boston II, peacefully departed this life after 99 years on July 16, 2010 at 5:00 a.m. at his home with his loving wife of 62 years and his son. Visitation at Bethel AME Church, 1358 South Blvd., BR, LA 70802 on Saturday, July 24, 2010 from 9 a.m. " 11 a.m. Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Omega Omega Service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. with church services to follow at 11:00 a.m. Dismissal following at Southern Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Dr. Herman O Kelley, Jr., officiating. Born in Oviedo, FL, he is preceded in death by his father, Prince Butler Boston Sr., mother Julia Johnson Boston, and six siblings. He is survived by his loving wife Inez Harris Boston, his son Prince Butler Boston, III, his granddaughter Tanya Boston Wells (Shyrone), two great grandchildren TaNiya and Tyrin Wells, and godchild Muriel Felder Haysbert. Prince worked at several educational institutions including: Southern University; Pelican State University; Utica Junior College and Lake Charles Vocational School. He retired in 1975. He was educated in the public schools of Oviedo, FL, finishing high school at Lincoln High School in Tallahassee, FL. He continued his education at Florida A&M University, earning a B.S. degree. Prince was a member of Bethel AME church in Baton Rouge, LA, holding the esteemed positions of Board of Trustees member and Senior Father of the Church. He was also a life member of the Beta Iota Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
